There are several A-10's at Sheppard AFB. We received at least one of them from DM. It still had the 333rd Lancers logo on it. It turned out that our base CO at the time had some "time" in at while it was at DM.

I spent 5 years in Bentwaters in the early 80's. Loved to look out my window and watch the flight line. My dad was in most of the 6 squadrons on Bentwaters/Woodbridge and was the Commander of the 511th before we left. Anybody work with Col. John Gay? I love giving him great Christmas presents and I would love to have him hear from anyone from the time period.
Go Hogs!

If I had to go to war with any jet, this is the one. I crewed 79-0239 out of K-13, 3 minutes from you know where. I felt totally safe with it around. For maintenance, Fastest engine changes I have ever been a part of. People, I never knew better Technicians than the folks who crewed, supported, & even those who were just stationed where they were.

Something about this bird always has made me stick my chest out& say with extreme pride, "GO UGLY EARLY!" Thank you Fairchild, you got it right.

Worked on the A-10 at DM and Bentwaters for 5 years from '77 to '81. Was and engine mechanic, loved the airplane and the crews. Remember when 750301 went in at the Paris Airshow, When Col Thomson went down at an air show in upper heyford, I believe. Some great memories of the guys I worked with in the 355 TFW, 333 AMU. Remember when we started POMO?
Also remember the folks I worked with at Bentwaters/Woodbridge. I was 81 TFW, 81 TFS. Was there before the planes were. Cold winter with no cold weather gear, no heaters, unfinished revetments. Still, a good place, lots of beer and English women.
