Mac Mccarthy high point, NC | Hi, I worked on the F-80, the F-86Es and the F-86Ds while I was stationed at Yokota AFB from Jan 1955 to june 1956. My job was designation was Crew Chief. We went TDY to Nigiata A COUPLE OF TIMES FOR TRAINING EXCERISES. Those Russian Migs loved to tease our Radar while we were stationed at Niagata Japoan. We kept 5 F-86Ds on alert all the time. If anyone was stationed there during this time let me know, Mac Mccarthy Crew Chief-Thanks.

Edwin J. Wegner Litchfield Park, AZ | I worked in the field shop for the APG30 Radar, RS104 Range servo unit and the A1CM gunsight system from 1954 to 1955. Our F86-Es had recently been returned from Korea to Johnson AB (now Iruma AB) Japan. It was not in my field of training, but I had a good friend and knowledgeable trainer, who served on them in Korea. He did one great job of cluing in the kid on good procedures. We had to build our own mock-ups when the wing split up into separate squadrons for maintenance as they were all at one time different aircraft. The 40th FIS and the 41st FIS had the F86-Es, the 339th FIS had F94-Bs. Thanks Ken. 02/07/2004 @ 16:42 [ref: 6748] |
