The Lockheed XF-104 Starfighter, made its first flight at the Air Force plant in Burbank, Ca. The Starfighter was flown by Lockheed test pilot Tony LeVier.

B-47 crew members of the 306th Bomb Wing from MacDill AFB, Fl. set a Jet endurance record for 35 hours of continuous flying.

The U.S. Navy's one-man jet propelled helicopter (RH-10) was given it's first public demonstration during the 1954 National Air Show, held at Cox Municipal Airport, Vandalia, OH.

Nov, 01 The last B-29 in front-line service, based at Kadena, was retired. The B-29s were replaced by the {B-47}.
