Great collection, some very interesting aircraft, most located in one central area, few aircraft are mounted on poles close to the central area. Couple of aircraft in Canadian Air Force colours and many of the other aircraft are in period colours making them interesting to take pictures of raher than standard camo finish that many museums tend to go with. Aircraft are well placed for taking pictures apart for the EC121 which is has trees and lamposts too close to excludng from the picture.

A small but excellent collection of aircraft that are are in excellent condition considering there outside location. Some rearer aircraft can be seen here and their paint schemes are pristeen. They have an F104 and a P40 on poles close to the museum. The only thing about this place is that it is inside an active AFB and you need to go to the gatehouse to get a pass. You may also need to make an appointment for a day and time to visit especially if, like me, you are not a US citizen. I called in on Tuesday and had to make an appointment to come back on the Friday. You can phone ahead to make an appointment. Whilst here don't miss out on seeing the KC-97 down on the access road to the airport terminal, it is now a night spot. About 2 miles from the museum.

My name is Ascher Ward and I have been an entrepreneur in the field of rare aircraft for the past 50years. I am writing to you because I have two extremely unique airplanes that may be of interest to you and your museum. I have a Sipa Jet 200 which I have owned for the past 12 years. It is the first civillian turbojet to enter production for general aviation. This aircraft can be verified by the Smithsonian. Of the seven aircraft only two remain, mine and one in France which is also owned by a private collector and is not for sale. Sipa had hoped to also reach the military market as a trainer or a liason aircraft. The second aircraft I have is a full scale replica of the original Boeing P12. There are no originals left in existence and this replica is the only example of this plane. It was built by the late Thomas Crowder approximately 20 years ago. It was built from copies of the original engineering drawings held in the archives at the Smithsonian. The aircraft has an early 1340 Pratt Whittney engine this is the same that is in the original P12. I have done many trades with the United States Air force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. The museum director at that time was Colonel Richard Upstrom. I acquired rare airplanes which the museum needed for their collection. For example: DeHavilland mosquito, DeHavilland Repedie, Northrup c-125, Lockheed Loadstar Fokker D-7 (original) this aircraft belonged to the late Cole Palen. Ryan STA (Air Force version) Fairchild C-82 (Packet), Mig 21, Lockheed F-104 which is on display at the entrance to the museum mounted on a pole. There were countless other aircraft which went across the country to various other Air Force Museums under "The Heritage Program". The aircrafts were exchanged for other aircraft which was surpluss to their needs, and of interest to me. The exchange was then made. I will provide photos on request. Should you have an interest in a purchase or an exchange, for an aircraft or aircrafts which are surpluss to you, perhaps we can work out a favorable exchange. Sincerely, Ascher Ward

The Peterson Air and Space Museum will be closed from 8 Dec 2004 to approximately 1 Feb 2005 for heating, air conditioning, and electrical upgrades. During this time, the main museum building (Bldg 981) and hangar (Bldg 979) will be unavailable for tours or events. The museum airpark will remain open, but visitors should be mindful of outside construction traffic and work around the affected buildings. We regret any inconvenience as we improve our facilities. Direct any questions or concerns to the museum staff at 556-8314 or 556-8278.

I'm a volunteer at the Pete Air and Space Museum. We've got two big aircraft restoration projects in the works. Presently, we are reworking our P-47N after pulling it off its outdoor pedestal last year. In 2003, we will be refurbishing and making the interior of our EC-121T display-ready. It looks nearly the way it does when it landed here in 1978! Come visit us at www.petemuseum.org. If you love old warbirds and live in the Colorado Springs, we can always use more volunteers!

Most of the museum's aircraft have been restored and the Air Park has been landscaped. It now a nice looking open airpark. The other aircraft on the base (P-47, F-101, F-102, F-104) are in various stages of restoration.

Not a bad little museum and a small but interesting collection of fighter aircraft outdoors. Worth a look also because it is in the middle of an active base.
