My husband graduated from Lackland BMT in August 1977, and attended Chanute AFB for 9 months of training (77-78). I'm looking for a photo of the entrance sign to Chanute AFB, if anyone has one. I'm currently trying to get Charleston as well. Our youngest daughter is following in dad's footsteps, and we've started a tradition of taking pictures of the entrance signs of all the AF bases she's been at. So far she's been at Lackland, Sheppard, Eglin and is now at Lajes (Azores). If anyone has a picture of Chanute's entrance sign, please e-mail me at kimdeaf@hotmail.com. Thank you very much!

Went through L.F.M. course in "84" with Sgt.Pritchard and made a number of great friends that i would like to hear from. I too had the chance to return to the base to be saddend by the memories of what it once was but thankful for what it has become and thankful to the volunteers that keep our memories and and history alive. THANK YOU ALL....hope to see you soon.

Was stationed there in Sep 62/Dec 62 attending Jet Engine School. Was in the 58th school sq on A shift. Lived in old Hospital that was spread out, you could go to every bks in the 58th and not go outside. There was a B52 and F104 in the hanger we trained in, also a B36 and some other aircraft on the flt line. The winter was very cold and marching to school in it was not fun. The mess hall was terible not a nice place to eat at. The Cafeteria got a lot of our business, the beer was cheap and the hambugers were pre cooked. I had a great time but the winters are hell. I went back a few years later in Jan/Feb 65 for Jet Engine Test Cell and anlyzer school.

After Basic at Lackland AFB, I went to Chanute to attend Cryogenic Fluids Production School from December 1964 to February 1965. I remember that before they would start your classes, you had to do 2 weeks of KP. I made about 700 lbs of bacon every night for breakfast. I rarely have eaten bacon since. The barracks were one story buildings and we were told they were the hospital during WW2. My fondest memories at Chanute were with the Instructors in the LOX school. They were very competent and understanding. After Chanute 3 of us went to Osan AB, South Korea, which we enjoyed a lot. If you are going to visit Chanute, expect to see a lot of changes. Unfortunately, the Lox school is not mentioned very much.

Originally from Collingdale, Pa., Joint the AF in august of 61, (couldn\'t find a job) went to lackland AFB for training then to Chanute for AGE school, spent a very cold year and was sent to langly on KB 50\'s and the C-130. Looking at the pictures, I wonder if I remember any of it, do remember the barracks and beer hall(cafeteria) Graduated with class of 1111 or something like that. Nothing more to say.

I was at Chanute in 1977 for 43131 Aircraft maintenance, Man, as a fan of old aircraft that was the place to be. Does anyone know what happened to the B-52 i think it was 52-8714 that my class picture was taken near? i fear the worst.

I went to the AGE school in August 1978 to January 1979. The at that time had some super displays on hand. Iam planning a trip in 2008, to see my old trainning base.

I was stationed at Chanute from 1969 thru early 1971 and was an instructor in the fuel systems field. I also went to school there in 1966 before being sent to RAF Mildenhall, Great Britan. After finishing with the military in 1971 I attended the University of Illinois graduating in 1975. While visiting the campus I decided to stop by the base and was saddened by what I saw. I had fond memories of the base and my time there. If anyone reads this and remembers me please send an e-mail.
