John Metzger Belleville, Illinois |  Was stationed at Shady-J 1976-1980 in the 334 AMU Environmental Sys. I was a day shift specialist dispatcher. Met some great maintainers their. Always went to Red Flag at Nellis and lost alot of money. Air Foce sent me to Chanute to be an instructor my last year of active duty. Got into the ART program in the AF Reserves. Worked down at Homestead AFB Fla on F-4C/D left there in 1985 to Scott AFB worked on C-9A/C, T-39, C-140 and C-40C. Barbara Tibbs Hampton, Virginia |  I was stationed at Shady J from 1980-1985, I was crew chief in the 334, 336,335 I was the best time in my career. The F4 taught me respect for the airframe. That's a true crew chief (aircraft mechanic)aircraft. When we worked we worked hard,we would party hard. Shady J was a family. Loved every day and experience. Loved SJ and Goldsboro; met and married my wife there (still together after 37 years). I was on Bare Base deployment to North, SC in '70...Great times. some time we hope to return for a visit. I'm also looking for a fellow trooper, Charles E. Sexton, he was from Jessamine Co. Kentucky. Been lookong for 30 years, maybe someone out there might know what happened to him. He went missing in fall of 1975, was supposed to visit us in Henderson Co., but never arrived, haven't heard from him since. There are still some Sextons' listed close to Lexington,Ky. ken giffen, F4 instrument tech centennial, Colorado |  I spent 6 yrs at SJAFB, first on the line as an avionics instrument tech on the phantom, then in the shop when the Strike Eagles landed. I worked with Art Washington and SMSGT Diehl also, loved every minute. Moved to Denver as an instructor at Lowry in 92, mustered out in 94. Still in Denver area working for USPS. All that was later changed into the 4th AGS The F4Es were rough on the back for loading munitions. I guess thats why we earned the name Knuckle draggers. AFSC 46250.
