I find it interesting to see that the B1-B is now a museum exhibit. It is sad to see that they have been relegated to the status of museum exhibit. But at the same time I'm glad that some are being preserved. I was a flight line inspector at Rockwell on the B1-B program. We spent many hours prepping them for Air Force acceptance.

The first static display at Tinker AFB was the C-47 in 1983. It was moved across base to the new heritage airpark in 1986 when the B-29 and B-47 were dedicated. Other aircraft have been added since then. No F-104 or T-33 have ever been a part of the Tinker airpark...which was renamed the Maj. Charles B. Hall Memorial Airpark in 2002.

I have been on Tinker AFB many times since 1996 (my dad is retired USAF) and I currently work there. Tinker recently overhauled their airpark and named it the "Charles B. Hall Memorial Airpark", and it looks very good. As for the F-104s... I've never seen any on display on the base. The EC-121 Constellation is actually on the base by the location of the old comissary. There is a C-130 over on the Navy side of the base as well. As an interesting note, over near that same side of the base is an old C-135 and a B-52D that are used for battle damage repair.

A good collection of planes that have a connection or relevance to the area. I found the RB-47 and B-1B particularly interesting. However, there are four planes listed here that aren't in the airpark: the F-104s, the T-33, and the Constellation. Does anyone know where these planes really are?

The B-1 that is there is my old aircraft from what I have been told. Will have to make a pilgramage there to visit her.

There is now a B-1 there also. Very well maintained. Some of the planes have been moved around as they are redoing the park. Much better than before.

There is also a F4D and a 105D now in the park. I worked on both of these airplanes in the 507th TFS (Reserves) here at Tinker. They both look good and are maintained by the 507th. I really enjoyed crewing both aircraft. Thou the F4 would work you very hard it always paid you back when it flew. The 105 was a maintenance man dream. Easy to work and fun to watch fly. If you are in the Tinker area it is well worth stopping by and taking a look. There is also a T38 close by at the Midwest City Welcome Center. Across the street from the welcom center Midwest City is making major improvements in the area. When finished there will be all kind of shops and eating places. I will send pictures of the F4 and 105 soon. Thanks for a great web site. MSgt John Glover
