I was viewing the web site if the Air Museum in Hampton, and noticed no mention of an F-106 Delta Dart or an F-15 Eagle. Both aircraft were a major part of Langley AFB. in Hampton through the years, mostly with the 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron and 1st AF. Do you have plans to display these as part of the areas history?

Right now the museum building seems be be closed down for repairs or something - it looks like it's been shut down for a long time. You can still go walk around the outside displays, though, which is really interesting. Many of them are showing some signs of weather such as peeling paint, deteriorated rubber/plastic, some mild vandalism, etc. Still, it's really cool to be able to walk right up to and around the planes. Here's what was on display outside when I visited, in no particular order: KV-6A Kestrel (NASA VTOL experimental) F-86L Sabre (USAF) A-7E Corsair II (Navy) T-33 T-Bird (USAF F-80 Shooting Star trainer) Mercury test capsule trainer (NASA) Argo D-4 Javelin rocket Mercury/Little Joe Booster rocket (NASA) F-100D Super Sabre (painted in USAF Air Deomonstration Team colors) M-2 Corporal rocket (Army) NIM-14 Nike Hercules SAM (Army) Ajax SAM (Army) Nike/Ajax combo (Army) RF-4C Phantom II (USAF paint) F-105 Thunderchief (USAF) SM-78 Jupiter rocket (Army) F-89 Scorpion (USAF) F-101F Voodoo (painted like a JF-101B, it'd been modified a few times) A-2 Polaris missile (Navy)

I found the previous review extremely helpful in my search for aviation enthusiasm/orgazzzzzzm? (my starz correspond to the above review...not the park itself)

I LOVE the Air Power Park! I too am dismayed by the obvious lack of upkeep of the outdoor exhibits, but it sure is fun to stroll amongst them. When I went earlier this month the museum was closed for renovation, so hopefully they'll be able to get to work on the planes after that! I've been unable to find any real official information about the park online, which too is a shame.

I am a Native to Hampton. We have the Air Power Park on Mercury Blvd and Space & Science Museum that use to be on base on the NASA side. It is now in Downtown Hampton. They have the old Merry Go Round from the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park era 1922. I wished we had a B-58 like one my brother use to be a crew chief in 1966 in Indiana.

Stopped by on a recent business trip to the area. I thought the displays were great. Granted, the park clearly doesn't have a lot of money for upkeep, but they have preserved a lot of interesting displays that would have otherwise been lost to industry. The rocket/artillery displays were especially interesting. If in the area try to stop by the Ft. Eustis transportation museum as well.

It's okay, but some of the exhibits could use some repainting.

The Air Power Park is well worth the visit, not only because it's free (although a donation is needed), but because they have decent displays of rockets, models, historic documents and tributes to our astronauts. It's all volunteer and work on a shoe-string. If you go, throw a couple of bucks in the jar.

Some of the aircraft you listed as being present are not there. There are a butload of plastic model airplanes displayed, which are impressive. Great rockets on display outside.
