The Beech King Air 100B is the only King Air powered by Garrett engines, TPE-331-6 (or converted to -10, better deal). The aircraft has the same exact interior space as the King Air 200, exactly. With the -10 engines at 25,000' it will cruise at 270 kts. same as the 200 and on about 30% less fuel. The engines have a 5,000 hr. TBO on them instead of 3,500 TBO for the 200. Carries a little less but not that much less. B100 grosses out at 11,800 and the 200 grosses out at 12,500. Only the later 200's have the electric heat and air conditioning. The B's have it standard, much better system. Down side is the B's wing is short so it can not go quite as high as the 200 but one would typically cruise the B at high teens to mid twenties, the 200 would typically cruise mid to high twenties. Not a lot of difference. Overhaul cost on the Garrett engines is considerably less than the Pratt powered 200. There were only 137 B100's made so they are hard to find. If you can find one that is in good to really good shape they are a real bargin for the money. Very reliable engines and airframe. Beech does not stand behind the aircraft very well but then they don't stand behind much of anything else they have built in the past either. Look in the CONTROLLER aircraft for sale magazine and there are a couple pictures of B100's for sale.
