I flew on gold old 0022 out of Langley in the mid 70ies. I was wondering how George McClain was involved in its trip to the bone yard??

Thanks

The last Looking Glass to fly in the continuous airborne mission is currently at the Strategic Air and Space Museum here in Omaha. It is awaiting restoration right now.

Would like to get George McClains E-mail.
I was at Langley untill 1980 and was great friends with Dan Wydra and famliy. I had been flying with Wydra at the time 007 caught fire and burned. If anyone has a contact for Dutch/Wydra please let me know.

I crewed 0018(balls 18) at Grissom for a number of years and yes it was reliable had a 98.7 mission capable rate one year. Would love to hear from others at Grissom during 81 to 91 time frames. Email is Chevls670@aol.com

Aloha to all you Looking glasser's. I was a Blue Eaglet at Hickam AFB 15th O.M.S. 9/17/78 9/17/81 We had 8055 thru 8057
and 0958 which wasn't configured till '79 We had GREAT ground crews, front end ,comm and battle staff. Our jet mac's were the best lead by Gordon G. Makes me proud to have servered with these guy's. On alerts, claxons (one scramble we actually launched [we were too fast that day thanks to Capt. Christian] 06/14/1980) Though the best had to be the west pacs, Great times, Great shopping, Great places to visit in the pacific and you would think just being in Hawaii was enough. Aloha members of BLUE EAGLE &
MAHALO for the memories

Assigned to Grissom AFB from '75 to '79. Two EC-135 "White Tops" were always on alert. #7994 and #3570 are the two tail numbers I remember. #7994 was a "Looking Glass", carrying the most equipment.

was station at Offutt 1976-1980 assigned to 2ND ACCS
I think I flew on everyone of SAC EC-135 one of the best airplane in the world. In May of 1980 had an outboard engine blowup just after take-off.. put a hold in the wing and had someother problems but we landed and got on another plane and flew the rest of the mission.

When I was at Ellsworth 81-86 we called 61-0262 "Too Sick Too" which meant too sick to fly that morning, so it always needed a special mind-set to be on an EC crew. Long alerts at Minot N.D

Was assigned to the 28th OMS/AMS from 87 to 92 in the PACCS section. Spent many hours working on all the EC-135 airframes. Have vivid memories of working a midshift, in the dead of winter, -60 below with the wind chill, bundled up like an eskimo, underneath the aircraft replacing a blade attenna to prepare for a morning mission. Those were some good times, wouldn't trade them for the world.
