| Ross Page Herrin, IL | There were DC-3's at the base in Barbers Point in Hawaii when I was stationed there at VR-21 in 1966 to 68. It was the most amazing plane I have ever seen fly. One day I was on the tarmack and saw one coming in over the end of the runway at great height and I thought it was going to keep going but to my amazment it stopped in midair and dropped straight down and landed at the end of the runway. If no one has ever seen this you have missed out. I was told that it was training for landing on short runways in Vietnam. It was great to see it. | Shelton Decatur, AL | I am a major DC-3 Fan. Would love to know if anyone thinks that there would be enough interest to start a small (2 plane)DC-3 airline in the southeast. Would have to be started from scratch. People are tired of higher and higher regular airline prices. | Christine Coral Springs, FL | We just bought an inventory of thousands of DC-3, DC-4 and DC-6 parts from a gentleman who is quote older and did not use a computer. We are still cataloguing 17,000 line items of handwritten pages - but all parts are new surplus and most are still in the original packaging. We might be able to help if there is something you are looking for for your DC-3. They are such beautiful planes.

| Barton M. Tiernan , AK | I have two DC-3 freighters. I want to keep one and continue to work it on skis up here in Alaska ("Ski plane"). The other I either want to sell or turn it into a fuel hauler ("Fuel hauler"). I have KC135 550 tanks to install in the fuel hauler. I am firm on $135,000 on the fuel hauler.
I am also shopping for a paint job on the "Ski plane." Anybody out there want to pay for a paint job with their paint scheme and name/logo on it somewhere? I would love to put a WWII paint job on it......I'm out of investment funds. And finally, anybody know where I can get an inventory of used DC3 parts/cores/etc. for cheap? | Viviane San Juan, Puerto Rico, DC | I can recall my first time on an airplane, Iwas 4 years old. Lucky me it was a DC-3 from Caribbean Airlines back in 1962. It flew fron the San Juan International Airport, destination Saint Thomas Virgin Islands. Non pressurized cabin very hot while on the runway, nice when it took off. The stewardess gave me a peppermint swirl bon bon.
I still live in San Juan, and every morning around 6:45 A.M E.T., FOUR STAR Airways a Commercial Cargo Airline starts their flights to and from the Virgin Islands taking fruits and all kind of goods around the Caribbean. I was a CH-47 mechanich back in Germany, and for sure I can tell you tha besides my CHINOOK, my most favorite fixed wing in the worl is the perfect DC-3, IRON HORSE for sure, unsinkables. | Timothy ouimet Panama city, FL | I work for the state of florida as an A&P mechanic on a 1943 DC-3. we use it for fly and mosquito control spraying, the state is talking about replacing it because of high parts costs and availability,but i personnally love the old bird and fly in it quite often at low altitude (150 to 200 ft). I love to read about Gooney birds and have lots of amazing pics.
