Alf Vien Cleveland, TX | We(the airport bums at Cleveland Municipal Airport, Cleveland Texas) have acquired an OQ-2A (Serial # 43-OQ-2A- 1826) drone manufactured by Frankort Sailplanes of Joliet Ill. It was constructed in Sept of 1943, and is powered by a Herkimer Motor model 2-69-17, engine #H130. The craft is in need of repair, we are looking for information about this drone. The only missing parts are the wing struts and rudder(and connections). It still has a servo in it and wiring. We need parts and structural information. All things considered it is in pretty good shape for being 60 years old. We want to rebuild it and fly it, any info would help.
Thanks

Phil Kimbrell , NC | My Father flew R/C drones during his servive in the US Navy during WWII. He taught me the skills of flying R/C and am an avid R/C scale builder today. I am gathering data necessary to build an exact replica of the OQ3 and OQ-2A/TDD-1. Where can I obtain information and data on these aircraft?
Thanks

Orie Kelm Kingsport, TN | The Marines had one Radio Controlled Target Plane Crew (7 men) and I was one of the 3 radio men in the crew. We were sent to Guam in late 1944 and the planes we flew from the top of Mt Santa Rosa, were the OQ-2A. It was rail launched with a bungee cord, and the plane had no wheels. The engine was a twin cylinder with a counter rotating propeller. I do not have any pictures of this plane, and if someone does have a picture, be sure to upload it or send it to me. 10/29/2000 @ 20:56 [ref: 964] |
