Wolfram Coquitlam, BC | Hello
Thank you for the great foto collections.
I'm looking for the landing gear mechanisem of the F4F-3 or -4. Does the museum offer any drawings or detailed fotos from this interesting landing gear mechanism. Any hint or information or link to some one who has this kind of info is greatly appreciated. 07/16/2006 @ 13:16 [ref: 13731] |
Kevin Braafladt Rohnert Park, CA | I am trying to locate any information on a F4F Wildcat plane crash in Sonoma County. I have access to some of the parts of the original wreck and I would like to find out more information about it. Please email me if you have any information.
Thanks,

Tracy Stuckey Eastman, GA | Does anyone know location of fuselage fuel tank on F4F4?
My brother W.H.(Bud) Stuckey was a mechanic with Joe Foss's unit VMF-121 on Guadalcanal in 1942.He says he seemed to recall tank was behind pilot, but cant really recall where fill cap was located(tho I'm sure he refuled many)He was a M/Tech. Sgt at time.
Wildcats used two types of droppable tanks.A centerline mount, which I understand was troublesome, and underwing tanks, which were preferred. According to Thomas Doll author of book VMF-121,most missions were flown with only one wing tank.Bud seems to recall that missions were flown using both tanks?
I am building scale model, and would like to add fuel spillage stains around fill cap area.
