Walter Boyne Ashburn, VA | I'm writing a short "end piece" on the F-104 for Air Force Magazine, and would welcome receiving the names of F-104 pilots who subsequently became famous, e.g. Kincheloe, Jordan, etc. 11/17/2007 @ 16:02 [ref: 18575] |
Randy Colby Loveland, CO | I worked on the radar and sight systems on the F-104C and F-104D, from 1963 through 1967, when our aircraft were sent to the Puerto Rico ANG. I was at Danang, Viet Nam and Taichung, Taiwan during two of the 1965 deployments to South East Asia. One of the most memorable things to happen during that time was after we had returned from that deployment. Lockheed gave each on of the people who had gone to SEA a Certificate of Appreciation, a tie bar and a tie pin to thank us for our service with their aircraft. At that time, most returning veterans were treated very poorly. That showed class. 10/07/2007 @ 18:17 [ref: 18131] |
Frank Wells Pasadena, TX | The 435th TFS was replaced by the 4TH TFW (equiped with F-4s and assumed the the name of 435th TFS) in June 1967 and the F-104s were rotated back to states July-Aug 1967 and given to PR Air National Guard. I know this because I was on detail to bring the F-104s back to states. 08/05/2007 @ 03:28 [ref: 17462] |
Robert W. , CA | The aircraft depicted in the photograph by David Best is not located in Blackbird Airpark. It is located in the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark which is adjacent to BA. They are in fact two separate airparks. 02/26/2007 @ 06:03 [ref: 15678] |
