Stationed at Malmstrom from 73-77 as a jet mech and as a machinist in the 4677th/17th DSES.This was my first assignment out of Tech School.Worked in Phase dock and on the line, with Rich White, Brian Walsh, Pookie Juleich, Keith Horan, T.J. Romano, G. Jackson and all of the others listed by Rich White in his previous posting. The TDY"s were plentiful and at a variety of base's.As a machinist I was involved in the repairs of the EB-57 that had the "gear problem". The Fabrication branch made the new parts on site to repair the belly of the plane.

Steve, Good to hear that you remember my dad. He now works civil service for the Army. He definitely loved his car and talked about the top speeds that he would go. I think his accent has thinned out over the years, I hardly notice it and I live in MN. He was just telling me stories about Korea, mostly the cold. He has a lot of fond memories. I would love to see the picture, it is hard to imagine my dad at 20 something in the 1970s. Were you in Vietnam with him as well?

Note to Ammons - Send me the email address of your old man, "Muff". He was definitely one of the most colorful characters in the "Disease" (17th DSES). He had the strongest southern accent I ever heard and would call my wife Maryann, "Maaaaaaaary", which annoyed her to no end. We had a wonderful ride in his brown corvette out to Belt one day (all three of us). I think we were pushing 130. Fun. Would love to reminice with him. Also have a good pictue of him in Tagu, Korea. Not incriminating. Steve

R. White, my father's name is Denny. I will have to ask him about the hunting story. He still loves to hunt and does so whenever he can. He has told me great stories about many of the men he was stationed with and what they did. It definitely makes me proud to know that he along with many others served their country. Hopefully you remember him and some other stories about him.

RESPONSE TO AMMONS SISTER. BEEN ALONG TIME BUT I BELIEVE I WORKED WITH HIM. THE ONLY STORY I CAN TELL YOU THAT HE WOULD CONFIRM, WAS WHILE HUNTING WITH A BOW IN MONT. HE SHOT OVER A HILL AND HIT A MULE DEER. ATLEAST I THINK IT WAS A MULIE. ANY WAY I REMEMBER HE WAS A PRETTY FUNNY DUDE. HAD ALOT OF BUDDIES AND ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP THE OTHER GUY. I WAS A JET TROOP AND THAT WAS MY FIRST DUTY STATION. ANYWAY I COULD LOOK IN MY OLD TDY ORDERS FOR HIS NAME,RANK AND SERIAL NUMBER, IF I HAD TO. WASE HIS FIRST NAME JEFF? ANYWAY TELL HIM HIGH AND GLAD TO HAVE SERVED WITH HIM.

Hello, I am the daughter of SSgt."Muff" Ammons. He is now living in Kentucky. He remembers the good times of the miliary and remembers many of the stories written with fondness. After the military he graduated from college and now works civil service at Fort Knox. He would love to hear from anyone of the 17th D.S.E.S. who were stationed at Malmstrom AFB from '74-'78.
