i worked on two rb-57d's at taoyuan ab taiwan reinforcincing wing spares with 5 airman mechanics and a tech-rep. from [martin] in georgia. aug.-sept. '58. we were on 'tdy' from tachikawa ab. japan. we also had f-86d's from nat. chinese air force in our hangar, coming in from sorties and having red stars painted on them...very hot !!..couldn't work on a/c on the flight line during some parts of the day. remember the caution needed around the honeycomed skin. all our work was done inside wing tanks for 10 min. intervals..never run into anyone who remembers the 'quemoy-matsu' crisis of '58..i must be too old...

I agree with budd Goodyear's comments about the RB-57s being used at Wheelus AFB, but must add that when I left my post in 1963, they were still being used heavily and daily.

I worked on the Navigation Systems on the RB-57's initially at Turner AFB, then moved on to Del Rio and the U-2's arrived in 1957. I recall working on 3 different types of D Models, one equipped with a new search radar and tons of ECM equipment. Was on the evaluation team of that aircraft due to numerous problems. Attended a factory school and began maintenance on the new RADAN Doppler system also. Left Del Rio in July, 1958 and continued my career in the AF working on the F-105 and it's new Doppler System.

I was with the 4677 DSES at Hill AFB, Ut from 1963 - 1967. In 1966 I was the crew chief on 982. I enjoyed the four years I spent working on B-57s.

I worked as ground crew on the RB-57D aircraft at Laughlin Air Force Base in Delrio, Texas in the mid to late 1950's. The ones with the pods on the wings at Travis had just returned from Eniwetoc in the Marshals for sampling missions of Nuclear clouds. Our reunions are held every 3 years in Delrio

Thr RB-57D that was at Pima Air Museum has been transfered back to Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB in late 2003 oe early 2004. There is still a RB57F at Pima Air in restoration area minus the engines It has NASA markings. I saw 2 RB57Ds at Travis in spring of 1958 or 1959 . one in a hangar right in front of a coffee bar. had the LASL air sampler tank on leading edge of wing. take off roll was SHORT. Quite a sight

I was station at Hill A.F.B. Utah in 1968-70 as a crewchief on EB57-D2 long wing (53-3965). I enjoyed that plane and had lot of TDY'S in U.S. and Canada. I am looking for a 3 view drawings to have a wood model made. Any leads on the drawings? I stayed in A.F. till 2002.
