Mike Lorrey grantham, NH | Actually, the 318th was deactivated in 1989 and finally put to bed in Jan 1990. This is when its F-15s were transferred to the Oregon air guard, not in 1980 as stated above. I was in the unit from mid-1988 up to the closing time. David , VA | The Eagle on the pedistal at Langley is not an A but one of the prototype YF-15A's This can be seen in the length of the speedbrake which is about half the length of the standard "A". Patrick Roy Lakewood, WA | The f-15 on display at mcchord air museum which is serial number 76-048. Never flew with the unit whose insignia is on the tail.
