SSgt Brad Seppala , MI | I crewed the F-15D model 79-0011 at Tyndall from '95-'97. It is cool that I heard what happened to it after the decommissioning of the First Fighter Squadron. Thanks for posting Fellas! 06/25/2008 @ 13:19 [ref: 21609] |
Buck , OR | Bitburg Air Base '88 to'91
The F-15D's were parked in "Upper Baker" of the 22AMU in HAS 33, 34, and 35; that was aircraft 79-0011, 79-0012, and 79-0010, respectively. I spent alot of time and smoked alot of cigarettes down at the end of that "lollipop" or cul-de-sac, as commonly referred to. That was located just down from the intersection of Hollywood and Vine...
I believe that 79-0011 is to be transferred from Tyndall to K-Falls, Oregon, to be part of the ORANG training unit..? 08/10/2007 @ 12:27 [ref: 17550] |
ret MSGT Paul Collard Goldsboro, NC | I lucked upon this sight to find my F-15D. I was stationed to Bitburg AB Germany in Feb 1984. In August of 1983 while taxiing to EOR the nose strut broke at the curve on the lower piston and axle assembly. The strut was ripped out and the airframe was seriously damaged.
On the nose gear door I painted "007 licensed to kill", in my own hand writing I painted my name as the crew chief. I was awarded as a USAF Europe Master Crew Chief. I once saw a plastic model that had 007 and also the pilot and my name in my hand writing as a stncil to put on the model.
