My father was on this flight for the Navy with Commander Rogers. He was the radioman on the flight. When they ran out of gas the generator could not make power to use the radio. My father 2 years later made a movie called "The flight of the PN-9. There were originally 3 planes that took of from San Francisco for their flight across the Pacific to Hawaii. The other 2 planes turned back to San Francisco but my father's plane continued on. The went down and made sails from the material on the wings and sailed into a bay in Kawai. They were lost at see for 10 days. They returned to San Francisco to a heros welcome. I have a picture of my father in an open car with Mr Gianini the founder of the Bank of America. They delivered the first air mail to the islands.
