Hello Pelican Jockey's Bob Lowry again. Today someone asked me if there was going to be a Brooklyn Air Station reunion this summer please advise if anyone knows. The HH-3F community is getting smaller and smaller. In 1970 I fell in Love with the HH-3F and left the CoastGuard when they replaced them with plastic helcopters that took twenty years to refurbish to do the job correctly. To bad that no one lands on the water anymore. You could always rely on the HH-3F to get you home even with a MGB chip light on that you could read by. Hope to here from some 1970 Flight mechanics and Avionics men. Semper Paratus Coasties.

Always brought us back even when it was abused. Tough.

Wanted H-3's out of 'A' school and got Sitka, what a blast seeing Alaska from 300 feet! Saw the city lights of San Francisco and the rough weather in Cape Cod. Loved to fly em' (got alittle stick time from the cool pilots). Ended my career as AMTC on HH-60's liked those, but had the best flights in H-3's. Proud to be part of the history of the Pelican.

I was lucky enough to fly in HH-3F's in Cape Cod and to the end of their era at Clearwater beofre transitioning to HH-60J's. Plenty of room, but VERY cold in the winter! Retired AETC.

I was an AE at Brooklyn Air from 67 to 71. Stationed with Tom Schneider. The HH3 was my first choice, the Goat second and the HH52 third. Loved them all if they got back!. Never had a problem worth talking about on any of them. Reading post from all who experienced the thrill,I mean that, of beind in the Coast Guard and flying on all of these aircraft brings back wonderful memories. My Grandchildren love looking at the pictures of these aircraft and I, the proud granddaddy, have stories about all of them.

Hi HH-3F fans including Tom Schneider. Bob Lowry ADC here. I was aplane Captain in the HH-3F just so I couldn't land on a Coast Guard cutter. In twenty years I had ten months four days sea time. Ten months as a Seaman and four days as a HH-52a Flt. Mech. Flew to hell and back and always made it home. I recently met a HH-60 Creman who described his plane the same as I did the HH-3F. It was built like a Sikorsky pick up truck. That is what I thought of my HH-3F's. The 1430 through the 1497. I see that the Italians are still flying them in combat per some You Tube videos. Good for them, we should build another fleet of them with new power trains.

67-71, Brooklyn air station, crewman in the hh-52a, 2 winged -S, also hu- 16e, when the h-3 came to replace the "goats" we were excited but then found out they could and did stay out much longer then the 52s. I became a 52 man for the rest of my tour. ( but it was a great machine).

I started flying in the H-3s in Astoria followed by Sitka, Cape Cod, Kodiak then on to Traverse City where we had the E models. What a great aircraft it was. Flying was just not the same in the H-60s. The H-3 was built like a tank and I never had any fear flying in extreme weather especially in Alaska. It could go anywhere and do anything. Lots of GREAT memories in that aircraft.

I was an AT2 at CGAS New Orleans from late '74 until early '78. Would look forward to hearing from you old H-3 guys. We had some interesting times down there.

Really loved the H-3's avionics package.
