Charles Benoit Rochester, NY | Steve from Charlotte (or anyone else with manuals) - I'd really appreciate some flight manual information. Please contact me at crbenoit@hotmail.com or via my website, CharlesBenoit.com. 11/23/2007 @ 03:50 [ref: 18637] |
Steve Charlotte, NC | I have the complete authentic original CG-3 and CG-4 Flight Manuals and "Erection & Maintenance Manuals" as well as the "Structural Repair Manuals" in case anyone needs any info on them.Even manuals for every instrument used in them. Be glad to xerox a page you might need also :) 09/04/2007 @ 08:46 [ref: 17829] |
Tewrrence O\'Neill Carlyle, IL | I bought the last Waco, the tail-prop prototype, in 1961, from C.J. Bruckner in Troy, OH.. And In the spare parts I got two of the tow releases used on the CG-4A. Is anyone interested in them? What are they worth?
After a lot of work I restored the Model W to Airworthiness and flew it to Rockford (EAA) in 1964. Not useable as it was in R&D Category; after advertising it for sale for some time, finally parted it out. Still have a few Waco parts.

Walter E Raby Bellevue, WA | I flew the PG-2A from Laurengurg-Maxton AFB during 1945 plus lots of CG-4A time and I flew the first CG-4A over Tokyo and set up the first Glider program at Ishnomaki, Northern Japan. There is a man that built a CG-4A in Oregon and, I think they delivered it to Fort Bragg, however, I am not sure of the exact destination .
I was about the only pilot that wanted to fly the PG-2A and I had a ball flying whenever I wanted to. We had more planes at LMAB then we needed so everyone was encouraged to fly somewhere over the weekend. So, we flew the C-47's all the time on long weekends. My job at Base Ops was to figure the Weight and Balance for the weekend warriors as they didn't like to do it. But that job kept me from being discharged and I did that until I was relocated to Bergstrom AFB, Texas. 08/20/2005 @ 02:50 [ref: 11036] |
Benjamin Clark Lubbock, TX | Come and see the fully restored, original CG-4A at the Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock, TX. We'd love to see you during the WW2 Glider Pilots Reunion Oct. 14-17. Check out our website at http://www.silentwingsmuseum.com. 08/28/2004 @ 23:30 [ref: 8173] |
Douglas Casavant Williston, FL | Hi CG-4A lovers, I was stationed at Lawson AFB Georgia in 1947. There was a big junk yard of CG-4A's behind the hangars and I salvaged some parts from one of them.
I have control cables [paired] and control cable pulleys.
Anyone interested in them?
I also got to have a ride in one of them after some war games. We were yanked from the ground by a C-47 flying over and grabbing our tow line. What a ride! 07/26/2004 @ 00:53 [ref: 7910] |
John Mount Vernon, OH | Italeri makes a 1/72 scale plastic model of the CG-4A. It's a little on the simple side, but a great foundation for anyone into superdetailing. It is available through any good hobby shop and numerous suppliers on the web, including Squadron.
Modelexpoonline.com also carries a Dumas wooden kit of the Waco, but I have no experience with that kit. 08/22/2003 @ 08:16 [ref: 6653] |
Steve Lange , CA | To those looking for Waco CG-4A plans:
Your best bet is to order the PG-2 plans from RCM: http://www.rcmmagazine.com/
The PG-2 was the powered version of the CG-4A (it had two engines, mounted on the wing struts). Simply omit the engines while building, and you'll have a CG-4A.
NOTE: RCM also offers plans for a CG-4A, but these plans appear to be substantially less scale than what is offered in the PG-2 plans. Look at both and decide for yourself; I ordered the PG-2 plans.
Good Luck! 03/04/2003 @ 23:56 [ref: 6357] |
